About Us

The National Press Club Foundation of Canada provides an independent non-partisan forum for discussion of public issues that impact journalists working in traditional and new media formats. Briefly stated, the club exists to provide excellence in journalism and academic achievement. To do so, it facilitates communication and social interaction between all of the players in the interrelated worlds of media, communications, government relations and public policy.

A historic institution. A non-partisan platform. An independent meeting place.

An Ottawa institution since 1928, the National Press Club of Canada was re-established as a Foundation in 2007. The club has a long history as a meeting place for journalists, parliamentarians, business people, diplomats, communication specialists, and journalism and communications students, and today also makes professional development and the support of the future of journalism cornerstones of its mandate. We are also proud to provide Canadian media and communications professionals with a non-partisan platform to share newsworthy information delivered by interesting people.

Breaking news. Professional development. An eye to the future.

The club serves as a social and professional hub that offers members and their guests a venue to share information with local media and related industry professionals. All of our events — Newsmaker Luncheons, Academic Forums, Professional Development Seminars and others — are designed to break news, educate, or enlighten.
