Since 1928, journalists, parliamentarians, business people, diplomats, and communication specialists have been proud members of the National Press Club of Canada Foundation and its precursors. Today, the mission of this professional association is to support journalistic achievement and reward academic excellence. In 2008, the club celebrated 80 years with the ambitious motto: ‘Looking back on a rich history, while keeping a firm eye on the future.’ Be part of this rich history, and this exciting future.
The promotion of academic excellence in journalism is a primary goal of the National Press Club of Canada Foundation, and is supported through its scholarship fund. The scholarships affirm the place of the press club foundation in Canadian journalism and public affairs, and boost their recipients’ ability to get the best out of their education — and to offer the best back to Canadian journalism. Open to students attending Canadian institutions, the scholarships are supported by club events.
The annual Spirit of Canada Gala, newsmaker breakfasts, educational workshops, a lunchtime speakers series, and more. Every event organized by the National Press Club of Canada Foundation offers something to journalists and communicators – and those they write about and report on. Come to hear those in the news speak from our podium, and take advantage of that easy access, or join one of workshops to keep up with the changing nature of your craft in the 21st Century.
